Year End Tournament of Champions

For the Year End Tournament of Champions game, each point you have earned will be worth 5 extra chips, rounded up to the next 25 chip level.  As always, one “wild card” participant will be allowed into the Year End  Tournament of Champions. This will be the player that hasn’t won an event with the most points earned provided he has more points than at least one of the qualifying participants.

Only winners of the bi-weekly games qualify, if the winner is a repeat winner, the runner-up does not qualify.  Year End Tournament of Champions will be held on a date at the most convenient time and location for the majority of the players and will be held as soon as all players can attend.  They will also have the same entry fees of $40 which will be dispersed as part of the above listed prize money for the night and also the usual $5 to cover the host.  Points will also be earned on your finish on the championship event which could affect the payoff that night.  Championship events will also count towards the participation rule.  Anybody that doesn’t meet the participation rule will need to pay the $40 entry fee times the minimum number of events (rounded up to the next whole number) that would have been required to be eligible in order to be allowed to participate. This money will go directly into the expense fund and paid off as described below. $5 per player goes towards the year end Tournament of Champions.

There will be a participation requirement for the Year End Tournament of Champions, you must participate in 50% of the events from the time you play your first event of the season and at least 25% of all games in the season.   We will allow you to pay the $40 entry fee for as many events that would be needed to reach the minimum games requirement and you will get 2 points for each make-up game you pay for.  Championship tournaments will be held on a date late December or Early January at the most convenient time and location for the majority of the players and will be held as soon as all players can attend.

Payout for the Tournament of Champions will be as follows:

Winner to get 40%

Runner-up to get 20%

Overall points leader to get 20%

3rd place to get 10%

If 6 places pay, 4th and 5th to get 5% each.  If 5 places pay, 4th gets 6% and 3rd goes up to 14%

Not knowing the particulars of the finals (# of players and prize fund) at this time, we will make adjustments if necessary in the interest of fairness.

There are always special circumstances that can come up, the 3 hosts will be the committee to rule on any situations if needed.  If one of the hosts is potentially directly going to be affected by a ruling (including Mike where Len can be affected or vice-versa, the other hosts can make the ruling.  They may, at their discretion in order to get more impartial feedback, include the top point leaders (also not involved in the potential decision) to form either a 3 man or 5 man team to decide.
